Who we are
Mercy and her husband, Joseph Moto, are both dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioners and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP-BC) with a combined 30 years of healthcare experience. Together, they founded Empathy Health LLC with a shared vision of making compassionate, holistic, and accessible mental health care available to individuals and families across Indiana.
Both Joseph and Mercy achieved their Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degrees, which provided them with advanced training in leadership, evidence-based practice, and patient-centered care. Their education and dual certification allow them to bring a unique balance of medical and psychiatric expertise to their patients, supporting the mind, body, and spirit in every treatment plan.
Over the years, their work has spanned across many areas of healthcare. They have cared for patients in integrated clinics where medical and mental health needs intersect, gaining a deep understanding of how physical and emotional wellbeing are connected. Their backgrounds also include experience in primary care and urgent care, as well as time in critical care environments such as the ICU and palliative care, where they supported patients and families through some of the most difficult moments of life.
At Empathy Health, Joseph and Mercy combine their knowledge, faith, and compassion to create a safe and welcoming space where patients of all ages—children, adolescents, and adults—can receive the care they need. Their life’s work is dedicated to ensuring that every person feels valued, supported, and empowered on their journey toward lasting wellness.
At Empathy Health, our goal is to make every patient feel truly heard, valued, and supported on their path to healing and wellness.
